I began my career in 1970 as a still photographer doing mostly small format magazine photography and large format advertising layouts. In the late seventies I expanded into commercial film productions, mainly advertising and documentaries. In the mid eighties I started moving toward video and television, and that's where I am today.
The same philosophy that got my career off to a good start over 30 years ago is still my guiding force; the camera is only an instrument that will record whatever the professional creates or is able to see in front of it.
Over the centuries the recording medium went from brushes and canvases to sophisticated digital imaging. Instruments have changed but the methods have not. For example, the most popular way to light people today is still photographically referred to as Rembrandt Lighting because it was created by the master painter centuries ago, in fact the most aesthetically effective techniques of lighting and composition used by dedicated professionals today were created centuries ago.
I'm a firm believer in the importance of good composition and fine lighting. In my van I have just about everything needed to accomplish this, plus many pieces of equipment that I designed and built myself. Click the “equipment “ link above and see for yourself. Unquestionably it's one of the best equipment packages anywhere.
